About Carna, Coast and Communities
Carna, Coast and Communities is a community-led charity formed in late 2025, rooted in a shared passion for the unique environment of Loch Sunart and its surrounding coastline. We bring people together to better understand the changing natural world around us and to respond in meaningful, informed ways.
Our work is grounded in the belief that land, sea and people are deeply interconnected. By fostering collaboration between local residents, researchers, and visitors, we aim to build a stronger, more resilient community that is informed, engaged and empowered to care for its environment.
We create opportunities for learning, discussion and action—encouraging a deeper understanding of the dynamic ecosystems of Loch Sunart and the wider coastal landscape. Through community involvement and shared knowledge, we strive to support positive change for both people and nature.
